Collection development is the acquisition and maintenance of library materials to support our programs. Librarians evaluate collection content and quality, purchase new material, and replace worn and damaged material. Since the library’s intent is to build a coherent and cost-effective collection centered on the curriculum, we welcome faculty participation in the process. We have issued a Collection Development Policy (also available as a .pdf) to communicate our plan for building the collection.

Librarians serve as subject liaisons, each focusing on particular subject areas within the collection. Contact the librarian in your subject area or discipline to recommend purchases.

Books

To recommend a book, faculty may email their discipline liaison a link to the book’s description from Amazon.com or some other website. You may also send your liaison librarian an advertisement or review via campus mail.

If you want to be notified when the book is cataloged, please indicate that on your email or note.

We’d appreciate it if you would also indicate whether acquisition of this book is a high priority or if you consider it to be of secondary importance. You can let us know by writing “priority #1” or “priority #2” in the email or note.
