Using a Subject Directory Website

tree.gif (4695 bytes)

Some websites employ humans to organize information by subject, starting with broad subject areas, leading to more narrow and specialized ones. Using a tree as an example, think of the trunk as a broad subject (like Medicine) and its branches as subdivisions (like Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Obstetrics, Oncology, etc.).

Human indexers organize these subject areas and make hyperlinks to websites available under various subject categories.
